DMK Leads in Key Seats, AIADMK Trails in First Round of Counting
Chennai, June 4, 2024 - The counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu is underway, with 39 seats up for grabs. Contrary to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)'s apprehensions, the party has fared well in all key seats where they expected a tough fight.
In the first round of counting in Thoothukudi, DMK's Kanimozhi is leading with 29,618 votes, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) trails. DMK cadres are celebrating their party's lead at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai.
Polling in Tamil Nadu took place on June 2, with a voter turnout of 65%. The counting of votes began at 8 am this morning and is expected to conclude by evening.
